Oakdale Wastewater River Crossing
Black Water prepared preliminary and final design documents for the replacement of the existing 18-inch sewer crossing over the Stanislaus River. The existing sewer crossing was constructed in 1977 and was located above ground, supported by a utility bridge across the River. The 18-inch sewer conveyed all of the wastewater from the City and was a critical asset. To improve the reliability and redundancy of the sewer system, Black Water designed a multi-barrel inverted siphon located below the River to replace the existing sewer crossing installed by horizontal directional drilling and a structure which collected wastewater flow from the entire City. The structure included upstream slide gates to isolate flows for cleaning and a vortex drop insert for odor reduction. Additionally, Black Water provided engineering services during construction and construction management/inspection services for the project.
